Summary
The project’s global objective was to develop tools for support in the area of school infrastructure to promote human rights in providing equal access to education for all children without any discrimination on race, language, religion, culture or impairment of children. The specific objective was to contribute to improvement of quality of education through better planning and design of school infrastructures and to ensure that school facilities are Child- Friendly and support Inclusive education. The project assessed the situation regarding school infrastructure availability and their condition, established standards and norms as well as plans by relevant authorities. On the basis of findings, the project prepared a set of recommendations for improved management and design of school infrastructures projects, quantify needs and drafted recoomendations for future interventions to ensure that schools are upgraded to minimum physical standards and cater for child-friendly environment and inclusive education.
