Results

1. Increased business skills of senior students and potential young entrepreneurs; 2. Increased capacities for providing business development services in Tuzla, Srebrenik and Kalesija; 3. Capacities of BIT Center Tuzla expanded and new SMEs started in the BIT Center; 4. New jobs created in SMEs in BIT Center and business incubators in Srebrenik and Kalesija; 5. New business support services developed and delivered in BIT Center Tuzla; 6. Functional Business Support Center (BSC) with incubator capacities in Srebrenik and Kalesija made available for SMEs; 7. Tuzla LED best practice promoted and applied in Srebrenik, Kalesija and other local communities in BiH.

SUMMARY

The project is part of the 5.2 million EUR worth IPA 2011 grant support to the local economic development in BiH which stimulates growth and jobs creation through the enhanced local partnerships and provision of business infrastructure and services. Specifically, this project aims to boost employment and SME development in the highly competitive ICT sector, based on the transfer of know-how from the BIT Center of excellence located in Tuzla, to the less developed municipalities of Kalesija and Srebrenik. Overall, this project should result in some 50 new jobs and 20 new SMEs created, of which 9-12 SMEs and up to 30 jobs refers to BIT Center, and up to 10 business start-ups and 20 jobs created in Srebrenik and Kalesija. Also, at least 45 SMEs will benefit from the new business services in target municipalities. This number should multiply every 3 years by taking into account the average incubation period for start-ups. The project will also contribute to improved business environment for SMEs through the better business infrastructure and promotion of innovations and new technologies primarily through the BIT Center. Finally, the entrepreneurial skills of young people will be improved through a series of promotional and educational activities.
