Results

Capacities of all MH sectors in promoting social changes improved. Technical skills of MH operators empowered. MH care services made more accessible and adequate. Awareness on MH issues raised in SER and BiH civil society.

SUMMARY

The implementation of the project was a great step forward in the difficult processes related to the improvement of a) the procedures related to the psychiatric assistance and therapies and b) social inclusions related to the mental health (MH) patients in the targeted area. It was aimed at improvement of quality of life of the mental health patients through the promotion of a new model of Psychiatric Assistance as well as a new model of Resocialization of MH patients in their own society and community, happening in a cross-border environment. Objectives of the project included: (1) Planning for Social and Political Change by creation of active Working Groups; (2) Exchanging of Best practice in Mental Health psychiatric therapies of Valjevo Hospital and the Resocialization of mentally ill patients carried out by the social experts of the Fenix Association in Tuzla; (3) Training the Communities of Valjevo and Tuzla on "Organization and Development of Mental Health services", with the observation and verification carried out by the World Health Organization; (4) Issuing the results of a crossborder research that analyzes the comparative conditions of the new therapies and the methodologies applied in the socialization activities both in SRB and BiH; (5) Coordinating a common Campaign against the stigmatization that still prevails of Mental Health Patients; (6) Opening a commonly used website open to the public for general information and references with a specialized, limited entrance area allowed to the medical professionals.
