Summary
This EU-funded Project was implemented by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, which has been providing trainings for journalists around the world since 1982. The overall objective of this Project was to attain better standards of media coverage in BiH. Through a close collaboration with the Foundation Mediacentar for Media and Civil Society Development, this project contributed to the capacity building of media in BiH, bringing better quality and more professional writing on the subjects of corruption and good governance.
Results
• A total number of 40 journalists received training; Topics covered include: journalism ethics (professional standards), accuracy and objectivity, interviewing skills, legal dangers and aspects of corruption. The training also included sessions with representatives of local NGOs (including TI) presenting their activities in the anti-corruption field. The Project received very positive feedback from the journalists. • An online learning platform was developed – it both contains material on corruption and tips on how to report it. It serves as a basis for media reporting on corruption in BiH. An on-going mentoring was provided throughout the Project. Feedback from the journalists who received training was overwhelmingly positive.
